Assuming NOKUT approval, the new joint degree program in environmental technology will be offered at Narvik University College.

Barents Environmental Engineering (BEE) International master program within Environmental Engineering.

Narvik university College: Specialisation within Sustainable Energy  (SE)

o The main aim of the Barents Cross Border University (BCBU) concept is to establish joint master’s programs leading to double degrees within the fields of Environmental Engineering. Double degrees means that candidates achieve a certificate signed by the institutions having provided the subjects of the programme.
o Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering is 120 ECTS over two years according to the Bologna model.

o Requirement for admission is a bachelor degree in engineering or science.
o The master contains a diploma project of 30 ECTS (ref. to Norwegian Master regulation §6)
o It is disciplinary based and it will qualify the student for research work within the fields given by the specialisations (ref. Norwegian Master Regulation, § 3, 4 and 5.)

Three specialisations are planned under BEE:

o Clean Production (CP) starting autumn 2009 at UOu.
o Water and Environment (WE) starting autumn 2010 at UOu.
o Sustainable Energy (SE), starting autumn 2010 at NUC.

NUC will provide a specialisation of one year and a preparatory module of 10 ECTS related to the specialisation (in total 70 ECTS).

A web site for the BEE education has been established: http://bee.oulu.fi

The web site will have a link to NUC`s web-page. The web site will contain:

o Information about the environmental engineering master program
o How to apply
o Brochures and study guides
