Master of Science in Satellite Engineering

With outer space as the ”place of work”

At present, Narvik University College is the only College in the country that educates Masters candidates within the field of
Satellite engineering. The Masters course spans 2 years and comprises individual subjects, projects and a final thesis.

Satellites have become necessary tools for the monitoring of the environment, meteorology, communication and navigation, amongst other applications. For the design, construction and application of satellites, knowledge within several different technical fields is required.

During the course of two exciting and interesting years you will get the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical education within a field that has no boundaries. This is through lecturing by highly qualified staff and to a substantial extent, problem-based learning.

Narvik University College collaborates with Andøya Rocket launch centre and the European Space Agency ESA. The Satellite technology course focuses on being research-based and international. It must be mentioned that former students have been very active at international scientific conferences and have received recognition for several large space projects.

Successfully qualified candidates can acquire jobs in a range of Norwegian businesses which contribute technical products and services within satellite technology. Companies such as Andøya Rocket Launch Centre (ARS), Tromsø Satellite station, Kongsberg Spacetec, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Nammo Raufoss and Norspace are among the interesting work places for our Masters candidates. The Masters course in Satellite technology is also a good starting point for further educational research within the field (Doctorate).

Further study:
The course qualifies the candidate for research education (PhD). Narvik University College offers such education in collaboration with universities in Norway and Sweden.
